KUCHING: The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), Department of Environment (DOE) and the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government organised an Electrical and Electronic Waste Collection Campaign (BEE) at Lundu Townsquare yesterday and today.

The campaign, starting at 8.30 am until 4.30 pm, aims to increase awareness on the dangers of throwing e-waste to nature and promote better approaches in managing e-waste.

A statement issued yesterday by the campaign organisers stated that e-wastes which are electrical and electronic equipment include laptop, desktop, printer, mobile phone, washing machine, air-conditioner, refrigerator at home, in the office or in premises where the items are not used.

The campaign hoped that through the two-day event held, it would encourage a circular economy and recover e-waste items and recycle them.

Following that, NREB urged the public not to throw electric and electronic items which have been spoiled into the rubbish bins along with other domestic wastes.
