BINTULU: A lorry driver has been out of work for the past eight months now as he is suffering from lymphatic cancer.

Buludi Chili, 40, is hoping members of the public would come to his aid in lessening his financial burden.

He, his wife and their four children aged between two and 13, are currently residing at Rumah Lani, KM22, Jalan Semarakan Sekabai near Sebauh.

His predicament received the attention of Extrameal Bintulu recently.

Bintulu Extrameal founder Francis Ngu Hown Hua said he was sympathetic to the plight of the family.

“Not only that, (his) electricity and water bills, motorcycle and other loans had not been paid for five months before he underwent surgery in May.

“He also needs to spend RM50 as fare to Bintulu Hospital for follow-up treatment,” Ngu said, adding that Buludi’s wife was not working as she had to take care of her husband and children.

Ngu said he also advised Buludi to seek assistance from the Bintulu Social Welfare Department (JKM) and the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

“They are trying to get help from JKM Bintulu and Socso, but they do not know how to deal with the agency, especially when they have transportation problem.

“Unfortunately, the longhouse they live in does not have cell phone network coverage.

“We have contacted and met with the two government agencies and hope that the family’s assistance application will be approved immediately.”

Ngu added that ever since the family’s plight was made known on social media recently, many had wanted to help.

“Thankfully, the family continues to get attention and we (Extrameal Bintulu) also helped by delivering food and cash assistance to them.”
