BINTULU: Sports activities in schools can produce quality human capital as well as having a first class mindset, which will be a contributing factor to school excellence.
Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said, sports activities could also shape the minds of students to be more competitive.
“We are aware that through sports activities, we are able to develop quality human capital or students who have first-class minds,” he said while addressing the postponement of the Bintulu District Primary Schools Sports Council (MSSR) Athletics Championship 2022 at the Bintulu Stadium yesterday.
The text of his speech was read by Bintulu District deputy education officer, Fred Entau.
At the same time Tiong hoped that by organising a tournament like this, it would be possible to produce athletes who could compete in the national sports arena in particular as well as in international tournaments.
“It is hoped that this annual sports event will be a platform for students to improve their abilities and continue to progress in the school environment,” he added.
At the ceremony, Tiong also announced an allocation grant of RM30,000 to the Bintulu District Primary Schools Sports Council.
A total of 1001 athletes representing 25 primary schools in Bintulu District participated in the three -day tournament which started last Tuesday.
