KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism and culture industry players are encouraged to promote their products online while the movement control order is enforced.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said they should make full use of the restrictive movement period to explore online selling options in attracting tourists and increasing revenue.

In a video recording released yesterday, Nancy said she was aware that many had suffered significant losses when the Covid-19 outbreak led to loss of income and poor economy.

In fact on Thursday the ministry announced the cancellation of Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign due to the Covid-19 situation.

The decision was in tandem with the detrimental effect the spread of the virus had on the tourism sector in Malaysia in particular and the world in general.

“At this moment in time the priority is our safety, in particular during these two weeks, to enable us to break the chain of Covid-19 infection,” she said.

Nancy also urged everyone to help each other to ensure economic revival and improvement so that the people could generate instant income through cash flow from various tourism and cultural activities in the country.

She called on the people to pray for recovery and to work together to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection by following the advice of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to stay at home. –Bernama
