KUCHING: A sedan car parked near a primary school at Taman Satria BDC here was partially destroyed in a predawn fire yesterday.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), eight firefighters led by Senior Fire Officer II, Juperi Kassim in a fire engine were dispatched to the scene after being informed of the incident by one of the residents in the area around 5.00am.
Upon their arrival, the firefighters were told by the residents that the engine compartment of the car had suddenly caught fire and they had put out the fire using two fire extinguishers.
While investigating the cause of the fire at the scene, the firefighters found an object, believed to be a Molotov cocktail.
It was reported that 100 per cent of the engine compartment was damaged in the fire. The operation ended at 5.25am.
