KOTA SAMARAHAN: A driver managed to escape a fiery death after his car burst into flames near the Kuap bridge, Jalan Kuching-Samarahan last night (May 18).
It was reported the Proton Saga was heading towards Kota Samarahan when it caught fire. The driver managed to exit the vehicle and fled to safety.
Firefighters from Kota Samarahan station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 8.45pm.
Upon arrival, they found that the vehicle was engulfed in flames and the extinguishing deed was performed using water from the fire truck.
Once the situation was deemed safe with no risk of reignition, the operation ended at 9.18pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is yet to be ascertained.
