SIBU: The local Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba Sibu) received a distressed call at 11.51hrs yesterday regarding a accident along the road leading to Sibu Jaya near Sibu. According to the report upon reaching the site by the operation commander, the crash involved a Proton Iswara Aeroback coming from the opposite direction with another vehicle.
The crash caused one death, namely the driver of the Proton Iswara Aeroback who was pronounced dead at the site by paramedics who came in an ambulance to help. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle escaped unhurt. Firemen helped to extract the remains of the victim from his car and subsequently handed over the remains to the police for further action.
Their operation ended at 12:30hrs. A total of eight personnel in two vehices led by PBK II Bakar bin Ujang from Bomba Sibu partookhin the operation that also involved two policemen and two medical personnel.
The deceased was identified as Kong Mok Nam (male), aged 80, according to a report from Pusat Gerakan Operasi Bomba Sarawak yesterday.
