SERIAN: A driver was injured in an early morning accident after his car rear-ended a 10-tonne lorry along Bukit Rasau, Jalan Serian-Sri Aman here.

According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received an emergency call at 4.30 am.

“Both vehicles were travelling towards Serian town when the Proton X50 got wedged behind the lorry,” Bomba said.

The 51-year-old X50 driver was trapped in his seat and sustained injuries, while the lorry driver escaped unharmed.

“Firefighters extricated the trapped driver by cutting away the front door on the driver’s side and handed him over to medical personnel from Serian Hospital for further treatment,” it added.

The extent of his injuries is not known.

Bomba also conducted a clean-up operation to remove debris from the accident site before returning to the station.

The operation ended at 5.33 am.
