MUKAH: The first “Mukah Car Free Day,” organised by the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM), was a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic participation from the public.

“This is a crucial step towards environmental conservation and pollution reduction,” she said after the event at Taman Boulevard Setia Raja yesterday.

Hanifah, who is also the Mukah MP, urged residents to prioritise environmental stewardship for the sake of future generations.

Additionally, she called on the community to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.

MDDM chairman Aini Suhaili announced plans to make the Car Free Day a monthly event, citing the positive response from the public.

“This programme offers a unique opportunity for healthy activities like cycling, zumba, jogging, and walking without vehicular distractions,” she said.

“It’s also a platform to raise awareness about the effects of carbon emissions on global warming.”
With the support of all stakeholders, Aini expressed confidence in Mukah’s ability to emulate the success of other cities in promoting sustainable practices.
