MIRI: A car parked in front of a furniture shop in Jalan Krokop Utama here was badly damaged in a fire on Wednesday evening.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said the car, which burst into flames suddenly, stunned workers in the premises.
However, they were quick to react, picking up three fire extinguishers and putting out the blaze to prevent further damage.
“A team of firefighters from the Miri Central station were deployed to the scene, responding to an alert around 4.45pm.”
Based on eyewitness accounts, Supt Law said moments before the incident, sparks were spotted coming out from the engine compartment.
The incident is currently being investigated.
