MUKAH: The Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) Sarawak continues to be committed to providing awareness to the youth and community regarding the industrial and digital fields through the holding of Tech Safari 2.0 at the Centexs Mukah Campus on Saturday.
In the programme, Centexs collaborated with the Sarawak Multimedia Corporation (SMA) and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Sarawak Foundation, Mukah District Education Office in inviting school students from eight schools namely MRSM Mukah, SMK Mukah, SMK Three Rivers, SMK St Patrick, SMK Dalat, SMK Batang Igan, SMK Oya and SMK Agama Igan.
According to Centexs head of Mukah Campus Dr Dayang Hanani Abang Ibrahim, this time she is targeting school students, especially fifth form students, about career options after SPM by emphasising the importance of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) and digital programmes involving the Digital Economy sector which is driven by digital technology, data and innovation.
“Tech Safari 2.0 also plays a role in introducing Centexs skills programmes which are industry based while most of the certifications used are of international standards for us to inform the community and we also introduce the functions of government agencies that are involved directly in talent development in the digital economy sector.
“Through this Tech Safari, Centexs also provides information about the latest industry developments through agency briefings together with Centexs Industry Strategic Partners to the general public,” she said.
She said this when speaking at the Mukah Division’s Tech Safari 2.0 Ceremony at Centexs Mukah Campus yesterday which was officiated by Mukah Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh.
Centexs also took the opportunity to provide a job matching platform and promote job opportunities in related industries through open interview activities.
“Centexs, in collaboration with SMA, has successfully implemented Centexs- SMA Safari in Mukah as the first location, followed by Betong, Lundu, Lawas, Batu Kawa and Petra Jaya Kuching as the highlights.
“Thus, the collaboration between Centexs with government agencies, private sectors/industry and local communities is very important, especially in terms of skilled workforce development.
“A special thank you goes to Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine for his contribution of RM6,250 for this CTOP programme,” he added.
Also present was Centexs chief executive officer, Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman.
For the record, through six campuses namely Kuching, Lundu, Betong, Lawas, Dalat and in Mukah, Centexs has constantly conducted Indiatri-based training and 81 per cent of the 64 programmes have international standard certification including Schlumberger, Huawei, Keysight, Bosch Rexroth, Microsoft , TWI, IIPM, City&Guilds, and many more.
In addition, Centexs also collaborates and works closely with institutions, departments, government agencies including UNIMAS, Swinburne University, UTS, IKMAS, Land and Survey, TVS, Sarawak Energy Berhad and so on.
Last June 2022, Centexs was appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia as a TVET Collaboration Hub in the field of Digital Economy at the national level.
