KOTA SAMARAHAN: It was a memorable day for pupils of SK St Michael Entingan, here, during their 67th annual school sports meet recently. A total of 244 pupils and 16 teachers took part in the event at the school field.

The meet is divided into three categories – Group A for Year 4 to 6, Group B for those in Year 1 to 3 and Group C for pre-school pupils and sub-divided into four houses – Red, Blue, Yellow and Green.

The annual event began at 7.30am with the pre-school competitions such as filling the bottles with water and spoon and ping pong race. Among the Group B events were blowing the balloons and 60m running race.

Kota Samarahan PPD Co-curiculum Officer, Daud Injah officiated the opening ceremony together with the school’s PIBG (Parent-Teachers’ Association) Chairman Wilfred Vincent and school Headmaster Achong Ak Bujang. Later, the atmosphere was enlivened by the school band who led the march past of the houses before the start of the competitions.

There were also open competitions for the parents and adults such as tug-of-war, and shot put.

At the closing ceremony, Carlos Adam the school captain and Year 6 pupil was named the sportsboy of the year while Virginia Nicole won the sportsgirl of the year award.
