KUCHING: Carlsberg Smooth Draught has unveiled an exquisite, special-edition can that pays homage to the cultural heritage, rich traditions, and breathtaking natural wonders of Sabah and Sarawak.

The can is adorned with six iconic symbols of the majestic Borneo islands, including the awe-inspiring Mount Kinabalu, the magnificent orangutan, the exquisite Rafflesia of Sabah, the captivating longhouse, the majestic hornbill, and the enthralling sape of Sarawak.

Local artists Ernesto Kalum and Carlos Benny designed these stunningly intricate designs that add a touch of sophistication to the already great beer.

“Last year’s launch of Carlsberg Smooth Draught’s six special-edition cans was an enormous success. So, this year, we have outdone ourselves with even more fascinating designs.

“Through the unique and authentic art of tattooing, we are celebrating the vibrant culture and traditions of the local people, as well as the natural wonders of Bornean pride,” said managing director of Carlsberg Malaysia Stefano Clini.

Clini delivers his speech at the unveiling of Carlsberg’s new beer designs.

During the Carlsberg pre-Gawai event and unveiling of the new edition of beer cans at D’Bellian House yesterday (May 12), Clini expressed his joy, stating that it was a privilege to be in the presence of the famous Sabahan and Sarawakian tattoo artists, and celebrating with everyone was an unforgettable experience.

“What better way to show our appreciation and support for our Sabah and Sarawak consumers than to enhance their drinking experience with Carlsberg?” he added.

Furthermore, he said that the ‘Raikan Kebanggaan Sabah & Sarawak’ campaign seeks to bring people together in appreciation and celebration of the vibrant art and culture of the stunning Borneo islands.

The launch event was a mesmerising spectacle, showcasing live demonstrations of tattoo art, vibrant native dance performances, and Carlsberg Smooth Draught-infused Tuak Bombs.

Meanwhile, from April to June, beer enthusiasts in Sabah and Sarawak can stand a chance to win cool gadgets and redeem limited edition Sabah and Sarawak t-shirts by purchasing at least RM200 worth of Carlsberg Danish Pilsner or Carlsberg Smooth Draught.
