MIRI: The much-anticipated 2024 SUKMA Carnival officially kicked off today, offering a vibrant array of 58 stalls featuring food, beverages, and merchandise.

The carnival carnival will be held until August 24 in conjunction with the SUKMA XXI games, which has seen Miri as one of the nine divisions in Sarawak selected as a venue.

The event was graced by Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development II (Entrepreneur Development), Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, who expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing SUKMA Games and the activities surrounding them.

Miri is hosting six sporting events for SUKMA 2024, including softball, karate, silat, sailing, fencing, and rugby.

Some of these events have already begun, with the first matches starting on August 17.

Today, the silat event commenced, drawing nearly 500 spectators.

The competition features 15 teams from various states across Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, all competing for 28 gold medals.

The sailing, fencing, and rugby events are set to start on Monday, August 19, promising more excitement and competition as SUKMA 2024 continues here.
