KAPIT: An Iban lass Caroline Lika from Kapit was crowned Pesta Dabai Song beauty queen at the closing of the three-day Pesta Dabai Song celebration last Saturday evening.
At the contest held at the lobby of Kapit District Council Song Branch office, Caroline beat nine other contestants to clinch the crown. She was crowned by Datin Marie Therese, wife of Katibas assemblyman, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan.
Caroline took home a cash prize of RM1,000, a crown, a sash, a hamper, a trophy and a bouquet.
Noami Robert, a local lass from Rumah Jarop, Nanga Sepadi, Katibas Song was second; she received RM800, a trophy, a sash, a hamper and a bouquet.
Jeamie Samantha Kanyau, who came third, went home with RM600, a trophy, a sash, a hamper and a bouquet.
Seven other contestants received a consolation prize of RM250 and a hamper each. They were Carolina Remong, Agnes Nor Timbang, Ling Ming, Tay Sue Yee, Pretty Sinta Mana, Caroline Freedly and Shanny Johny.
The panel of judges consisted of Raymond Leo Sarawak as the chief judge, Datin Mary Therese and Sarawak Administrative Officer, Ronald Gary.
Among the judging criteria for the selection of the beauty queen were beauty, makeup, body size, catwalk and presentation, posture, intelligence, confidence level, communication skill, talent and attire. Each of the beauty contestant had to showcase their talents including singing, dancing and ‘ngajat’ for the entertainment of the audience.

people attended the closing ceremony with the Pesta Dabai Song beauty contest
as the highlight.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Katibas
assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan.
Also present were Walikota of the council, Lating Minggang, council secretary
Jabang Juntan, assistant secretary, Kelimbik Sibat, Deputy Resident, Galong
Luang, SAO Ronal Gary and community leaders led by Pemanca Jamit Untam.
