KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court here today fined a carpenter RM1,500 in default five months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to assaulting and injuring his girlfriend.
Asfarizan Asfrin Zaini, 28, from Kampung Stapok pleaded guilty to injuring his girlfriend Nur Melody Aurora by punching her in the face, causing bruises on the victim’s left cheek.
He committed the offence at Lrg 8B, Taman Duranda on April 19, punishable under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
Asfarizan faces another charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation which carries imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or both.
He was charged with threatening to spray acid on his girlfriend.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on RM700 bail with one surety.
Magistrate Zaiton Anuar fixed May 8 for hearing of the case.
