KUCHING: Carrie Geres emerged champion of the sixth Konsert Juara Lagu Bidayuh 2019 organised by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) last Saturday.
With her rendition of the song “Dayung Bidayuh”, Carrie brought homeRM1,500 and a trophy. She also won the best performance category.
Synister band with the song “Cinta Simene” won the first runner-up trophy and brought home RM1,000. The band also won the best vocal category.
The third place went to Menik Hasrin who sang “Damai” which also won the best song composer category to go along with the second runner-up trophy and RM900.
The other nine finalists received consolation prizes and a trophy each.
The finalists were evaluated based on their performances, vocal, and their song arrangement.
The panel of judges comprised RTM musician Sahfri Mustapha, RTM music head Yap Yen and Unimas music lecturer Laura Pranti Tutom.
Also present were special officer to Stampin MP Chong Chien Jen, Abdul Aziz Isa, WAIfm manager Datin Lydia Paya Rinyud, assistant engineering director Zulkiflee Daud, RTM senior assistant administrative officer Sudin Raki, Bidayuh Artiste Music Association chairman Dr Alim Impira and a representative of the Bidayuh Entertainers Association Kuching (Beak) president, Tom Dimis.
