KUCHING: Two cars were believed to have caught fire yesterday at the Level 4 car park of a mall during a busy Christmas eve.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operation director Tiong Ling Hii, the two cars were a Proton Persona and Perodua Myvi.

“We received the incident report at 2.11pm and a team of 10 firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya Bomba were dispatched to the scene,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Bomba, he added, managed to put out the fire and the operation ended at 3.16pm.

No casualties were reported during the incident.

Meanwhile, on its Facebook page, the mall said a car caught fire at the P4 (Level 4) car park.

“The fire has been extinguished and brought under control. Bomba is in the midst of investigating the cause,” it said.

It added that business had resumed as usual and wished shoppers happy shopping.
