SIBU: Cashless transactions through Sarawak Pay at the Sibu Central Market is a right step towards a more friendly business system in crowded areas.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting said the market received more than 2,000 visitors on weekdays and the number doubled over the weekend.
“The use of Sarawak Pay at Sibu Central Market is very suitable because this market is a crowded area that involves many business transactions.”
“Every day this market receives a total of 2,500 visitors and on weekends more than 4,000 visitors are recorded,” he said during the launching ceremony of Sarawak Pay cashless transactions and free wifi network at Sibu Central Market on Wednesday (Sept 16).
The ceremony was officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Ting said the market is also equipped with free WiFi service to facilitate visitors, especially in using Sarawak Pay.
Meanwhile, trader Tiong Tai Hung when met said, the state government initiative to introduce Sarawak Pay facilitated business transactions between traders and buyers.
“I used this application last July and it is very helpful in my business.
“This application also makes it easier for people to buy goods because they only need to bring a smartphone,” he said.
