KUCHING: The official Facebook page of St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching was hacked on Wednesday (Jan 17).
In response, the Cathedral’s team promptly issued a statement confirming that they have successfully regained control from the hackers.
It was confirmed that the hack led to an unauthorised change in the page name from St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching to ‘We remove your post see why’.
“We want to assure you that we have successfully regained full control of our page and have removed the hackers.
“However, due to Facebook’s security settings, we are currently unable to change the page name for the next 60 days,” they said.
Acknowledging the inconvenience caused, they added that the team is working to uphold the integrity of the Facebook page.
“We are also trying to contact Facebook support regarding this incident and requesting assistance for a name change,” the team said.
The Cathedral’s team apologised for any disruptions and inconveniences caused by the hacking attempt, assuring the community will updated on further developments related to the incident.
