SARIKEI: Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has advised Sarawakians to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak moderately.
He said such steps must be done to curb the spread of Covid-19 transmission in the state.
“Although the new scenario is ‘not normal’, at least we can protect our family from being infected with the deadly disease,” he said in his Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak message yesterday.
He is confident that the Covid-19 can be prevented if all play their part to remain vigilant and adhere to the government’s directives.
He said members of the public must practise high quality of hygiene apart from wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing throughout the celebration period.
“We must realise that this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak are celebrated in a different condition due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“Thus, we must advise everyone, especially the Repok community, to continue abiding by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set up by the authorities and Ministry of Health (MOH),” he said.
On Gawai aid, he said 87 longhouses had benefitted from it.
“Overall, a total of 1,327 doors received the Gawai aid which was part of the efforts by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to take care of the wellbeing of the people,” he added.
