KUCHING: Today marks the sixth anniversary in office of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Known as a man with a vision, during his six years in the office, many development plans have been completed and are being rolled out to drive Sarawak towards a high-income state by 2030.
Sarawak also not only gained recognition throughout Malaysia with Abang Johari’s persistence in getting back the state rights in the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63) but is also recognised internationally through the Premier’s green economy initiatives.
As Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman, Abang Johari indeed has strong support from his comrades which leads to political stability in the state and continuous unity among our plural society.
Sarawak leaders share their joy and congratulate Abang Johari on his achievement and hope that he will continue leading the state to greater heights.
MARTIN BEN
Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development
Congratulations to our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on his first anniversary of helming the Gabungan Parti Sarawak government after the unprecedented victory during the 12th state election. It is my wish that the Premier continues to lead the GPS government into making strategies outlined in the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030) a reality, however challenging it may be. May the Premier continue to be blessed with good health and wisdom.
DATUK SNOWDAN LAWAN
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts
There are endless testimonies that could be written on the efforts and successes made by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg over the last six years and among the most notable, immensely felt and particularly impactful to the state and her people are political solidarity via Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR); economic prosperity; wealth distribution; social well-being; steadfast on Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) pursuit and the victories in both state and general elections. Our Premier led the state to outstanding victories in both elections and this has provided formidable political leverage for the state to arbitrate with the federal government on issues such as ministerial representation and Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) agendas. Knowing Sarawak rights must be restored and safeguarded, our Premier had been steadfast, firm and consistent in pursuing the MA63 with some terms such as immigration and use of English is pegged as ‘non – negotiable’.

DATUK DR PENGUANG MANGGIL
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government
I wish to extend my heartiest congratulations to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the excellent job, many initiatives, and achievements that he has done to move Sarawak forward to what it is today and on to achieve a high-income developed state by 2030. Though at the helm for only 6 years, his work rate is not only fantastic but more obviously very forward-looking and in fact ahead of many states, particularly in the digital economy, revenue re-engineering, and in mitigating climate change in the like of renewable energy, as well as Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) to name a few. He is such a visionary and development-centric leader with the people’s needs and welfare at the forefront of his administration and this is evident by the projek rakyat and the number of Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) that he has handed out to the rakyat particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, flood and more, which were done in a magnitude and a scale never witnessed before. On this very significant occasion, I pray for his good health so that he will continue to lead Sarawak for many more years to come.

I extend my sincere congratulations on YAB’s 6th anniversary as the Premier of Sarawak. Sarawakians as a whole are continuously looking forward to a visionary leadership of YAB to steer the transformation of Sarawak into a developed state by 2030. Specifically, the fight to claim the rights of Sarawak under MA63 is a huge and noble effort by YAB for the prosperity of all Sarawakians. Taking this opportunity, I wish our Premier good health and a great achievement for the better future of Sarawak, InsyaAllah.”
MICHAEL TIANG MING TEE
Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government
Sarawakians are proud to have a Premier that has the wisdom and persistence in fighting for Sarawak rights in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Abang Johari is very determined in fighting to restore the state to its original position. This is all his great achievement as we gain back one by one our rights. After the COVID-19 pandemic, most of Abang Johari’s economic vision and mission also come into reality. For example, our digital economy through Sarawak pay and the green economy have placed Sarawak on the world map. Hence, I wish our Premier heartiest congratulations on his 6th anniversary in office.
