KUCHING: The Sarawak Day celebration this time around with the theme “Sarawak Cemerlang” will see it to be held in strict adherence to the “new normal” phenomenon due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) hopes that all teachers will continue to be given perfect health and continue their efforts to fight in the increasingly challenging world of education in the state of Sarawak, Land of the Hornbills, it said in a statement.
Its president Macky Joseph said that it was grateful that Sarawak is increasingly striving for excellence for a stable and competitive future.
On this occasion, STU stressed while celebrating Sarawak Day, that school population and Sarawakians must abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) guidelines in combating the spread of the coronavirus.
“The use of face masks and social distancing must remain mandatory, and STU hopes that school population, especially teachers, will always adapt to the new norms in leading life in the world of education.
“Various efforts and creativity of teachers carried out to ensure that students continue to learn are very much appreciated,” he said in his Sarawak Independence Day message.
Meanwhile in Mukah, Temenggong Hendi Suhai, 66, hopes that unity and solidarity as well as tolerance will always be preserved.
He also hopes that as they celebrate the special occasion, Sarawakians will uphold the spirit of patriotism and love for Sarawak.
