KAPIT: The Department of Statistics Malaysia is urging the public to visit its nearest office to ensure the successful implementation of the 2024 Agricultural Census.
In making the call its Sarawak Director, Dayang Rozana Abang Hassan, stressed the need for residents involved in agriculture to engage with its staff.
“We welcome anyone who wishes to come to our nearest office or directly contact our staff to discuss plans for visiting their farms and plantations to ensure the success of this census,” she said after chairing the Kapit Division Agricultural Census Engagement here Tuesday (July 16).
She highlighted that the census is vital for collecting comprehensive and high-quality data, particularly on the production capacities of various products across Sarawak.
The census will involve face-to-face methods where staff will visit residents’ locations to interview them about their agricultural activities.
To raise awareness about the census, the Kapit Information Department is promoting it through the ‘Info on Wheels’ (IOW) programme and distributing relevant publications locally.
The 2024 Agricultural Census will provide the government with an updated profile of the agricultural sector, which was last documented nearly 19 years ago. This census will cover activities such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, and logging.
