KUCHING: The key to success in the beauty and health industry is knowledge, skill and authentication, said Zunainah Zaini, owner of Putri Sejinjang Spa.
“Once you have the knowledge and experience, it is important to acquire the Malaysian skill certification (SKM). With sound knowledge and accredited certification, it will smoothen the process of starting your business,” she said.
Zunainah was listed in the Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame in the SME Corp Awards in 2016 and was the finalist for the Best Spa Award for the Asia Pacific in 2012.
She said such certification is important in applying for loans and grants as well as to boost customers’ confidence.
She said this during a webinar entitled ‘Make Money with Your Skills’, organised by the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial in collaboration with Centexs and Sara-X, held virtually via Zoom yesterday.
She also shared advice on ensuring a successful business. This includes determining suitable prices for products and service, developing strategies for services and sales, and how to create services that high-quality service that produces satisfied customers.
“To set the suitable price for your products and services, costs must be well calculated and also you must also conduct thorough market surveys,” she said.
Zuhainah emphasised the importance of good communication with customers and how it will lead to understanding the customers’ needs and desires. Good communication will also allow entrepreneurs to find new ways to enhance their overall service value.
During the webinar, Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak (Kobis) chairman Zaiwin Kassim advised entrepreneurs to focus on opportunities, especially during this pandemic.
“During the pandemic, people are experiencing financial hardship. However, there is data and proof which shows that some people have managed to get richer and they are wise in conducting business and gaining more customers,” he said.
He urged entrepreneurs to make full use of social media as the new way of advertising and to be willing to share knowledge and also support fellow entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Christopher Linggoh, assistant manager of the technology division at Centexs Commercial, elucidated about Centexs Commercial and the Sara-X mobile application.
Participants also received a certificate of participation and exclusive business access to the Sara-X apps. On top of that, the Sara-X team will also provide participants with guidance and counselling.
