LINGGA: The Betong Technical Excellence Centre (Centexs) is ready to collaborate with more non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and service centres of elected representatives to enhance the Community Technical Outreach Programme (CTOP).
Its manager, Andrew Emparan, said that CTOP was introduced to enhance the skills of rural communities to improve their socio-economic status.
“For this purpose, it is Centexs’ commitment to collaborate with the community.
“We help them learn skills that can serve as a guide and support to increase their income sources.
“At the same time, we actually welcome more support from NGOs, including service centres of representatives,” he said.
In a statement he said the Kembara Kasih, Education, and CTOP programme, held at the Emparan longhouse, Kampung Semulung Ili, near here, was officiated by Sri Aman MP Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie.
He said Centexs Betong is committed to expanding skills learning to residents in the interior, such as Lingga.
“We are grateful that we have managed to attract the participation of 115 participants from 13 longhouses in Semulung, Engkeranji, Munggu Sawa, Menangkin, Menuang and Langgir.
“They are involved in seven types of skills courses such as oil palm planting and maintenance, pepper, mushrooms, fertigation plants and loom bead making.
“I would like to thank those who have helped to facilitate this programme, especially the Sri Aman Community Driving Association, Simanggang Pigeon 4×4 Club, Sri Aman Representative Service Centre, and the Kampung Semulung Ili Village Advancement and Security Committee (JKKK),” he said.
