KUCHING: Smiles spread across the faces of 1,827 graduates as they received their scrolls at the Centre for Excellence Technology Sarawak (CENTEXS) Eighth Convocation Ceremony.
The four-day ceremony, held from February 5 to 8 at the Multipurpose Hall, CENTEXS, was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
This time, 1,534 graduates from CENTEXS’ Industry and ESG Academy (IESG) and 293 graduates from the Digital and Green Energy Academy (DGA) were awarded their industry-based certificates.
According to CENTEXS, these graduates completed 52 programmes out of the total 84 offered, with focus areas in Digital, Green Energy, Oil and Gas, Electrical, Construction, Fashion Technology, Heritage, Hospitality, and Tourism.
It added that these programmes are both nationally and internationally certified by industry leaders, including Schlumberger (SLB), TWI CSWIP, Huawei, EON Reality, Solarvest, and others.
“Overall, we have achieved a 93 per cent employability rate as of November 2023. For the record, CENTEXS graduates have been working across industries in Sarawak, Malaysia, and internationally.
“Just to name a few, our alumni have been employed by Schlumberger (SLB), Sarawak Metro, Sarawak Energy, PETROS, SHELLMDS, Longi, SALCRA, Dayang Enterprise Holdings Berhad, Press Metal Bintulu, Hilton, Pullman, and many others,” it said.
With the success of today’s graduates, Abang Johari extended his congratulations to the graduates and their parents for their unwavering support in their children’s educational journey.
“Talent development is key to all aspects of development. That is why, under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS), we have emphasised the importance of talent development for us to become a high-income state by 2030.
“With today’s graduation, these graduates will be able to contribute to the ongoing development in the nation, especially Sarawak. Congratulations to all the graduates!” he said.
