MIRI: The Centexs Hydrogen and Tech Safari 4.0 is a pivotal platform to foster face-to-face interactions and information sharing among local communities, agencies and industries.
State Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said this in emphasising the collaborative efforts behind this initiative during the event’s opening at the Miri Civic Centre on Saturday.
“This programme, a close collaboration between Centexs and the Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, serves as a conduit for community engagement and industry partnership,” said Lee.
“Such collaborations are essential in driving Sarawak towards its aspirations of high-income status by 2030.”
The Centexs Hydrogen and Tech Safari 4.0, supported by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Yayasan Sarawak, and Sarawak Metro, demonstrates a collective commitment to engaging with the community to achieve the state’s development goals.
Lee highlighted the event’s educational impact, noting the attendance of 522 students from 11 schools here.
“We must continually explore new realms of thought and stay abreast of developments in the digital world and technology. This includes areas such as green energy and hydrogen, artificial intelligence, and robotics,” he said.
“Training and enlightening our children in these fields are crucial for Sarawak’s progress.”
Reflecting on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision for the state, Lee reiterated the need for enhanced efforts in creating new economic resources and fostering skilled human capital.
“From 2026, we will offer free education for Sarawakian children at state-owned higher education institutions. This significant initiative aims to provide more opportunities for our youth to pursue higher education, thereby supplying the skilled workforce necessary for rapid development.”
In support of these aspirations, Centexs has been at the forefront, providing programmes and testbeds in green energy, hydrogen, electric vehicles (EV), aviation, robotic programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
The institution has also established partnerships with leading international industries to deliver the required expertise.
The Centexs Hydrogen and Tech Safari, which previously took place in Serian in May, will continue its journey to Kapit, Lawas, and culminate in Kuching.
Also present at the event were Centexs Chief Executive Officer Dato Syeed Mohd Hussein Wan Abdul Rahan, SMA’s Technical Advisor Peter Chia, Head of Research and Product Development at Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Dr. Khairul Hafiz Sharkawi, and Deputy Project Director of Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, Prabu Ganesh Subramaniam.
