Centexs reaches out to less fortunate

KUCHING: A total of 56 orphans received clothing and duit raya under a charity project carried out by Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial.

Sixteen sets of Raya clothes were given to orphans from Baiturrahmah Orphanage, and 40 orphans from Pusat Jagaan Nur Murni also received aid in the form of Raya money packets and food aid.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, who presented the clothes, said she is impressed with the contribution Centexs has made to the community.

“The project has been Centexs Commercial’s activity for the past three years and is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards the community.

“We want to see successful government linked companies (GLC) like Centexs use their success to contribute back to society.

“This is in line with the vision set by our Premier, and companies should use their success and influence to help elevate different aspects of the society such as arts and crafts, technology or food and beverages,” she said during the handover at Juma’ani Pavilion here Wednesday (Apr 5).

“We are promoting local community products to corporate businesses during the month of Ramadan.

“As of now, we have already received close to RM30,000 worth of purchases to be given out to the underprivileged.

“Such initiative gives benefits to both parties, the corporate businesses and the local communities producing the products,” he said.

Also present at the handover were the deputy director of Centexs Industry Academy Dr Nadianatra Musa, the manager of Baiturrahmah Orphanage Abdul Rahman Hassan, and the manager of Pusat Jagaan Nur Murni (Puteri) Raziman Anggas.
