SIBU: The Centre On Technological Readiness And Innovation In Business Technopreneurship (Contribute) was established at the University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) last year to strengthen the university’s research activities and to support the current development of the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy.
According to Associate Professor Dr Mohd Zainal Munshid Harun, who is head of Contribute and Dean for the university’s School of Business and Management, one of the main objectives of its establishment is to promote assimilation of technology into business practices and to adopt all the advantages of current technologies.
“The centre aims to provide advisory, consultancy and training services, policy formulation including strategic planning expertise and human capital requirements to facilitate any related research development, while at the same time focusing on innovation and transformation of business and entrepreneurship.
“In the end, Contribute has a vision to become an internationally recognised centre involved in technology and innovation for business and entrepreneurship for the benefits of the country and the whole world in general.
“There are many research niches covered while some of them are very much relevant towards the current market demand for technological development purposes,” he said.
Among the research niches covered include e-business and digital entrepreneurship, e-commerce and digital marketing, and digitalisation on accounting and finance practices.
As for technological management practices, Contribute introduces the combination of technological and management practices towards better opportunities in the current business environments by providing training and consultation, as well as participating in researches.
With this, he said Contribute is committed in making its objective a reality and with the help and contribution of other parties, the centre will one day able to emerge and soar high.
