KUCHING: A total of 14,000 industrial workers will benefit from the industrial vaccination centre at the University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) Sibu, said Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator, Dr Annuar Rapaee.
Dr Annuar, who is also the Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technology Research, said the vaccination centre was also targeting more than 1,000 recipients per day.
“The centre, which started operating as early as 8am, is expected to help speed up the vaccination process for workers, particularly in the industrial sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pansar Berhad’s managing director, Pemanca Datuk Jason Tai Hee told Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) Sibu district that this first vaccination centre was set up with the collaboration of Pansar Berhad and UCTS and operated by Segi Medical School.
“The vaccination programme this morning went very smoothly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman, Clarence Ting hoped the programme could be intensified with the vaccination of more people there.
Also present was the vice-chancellor of UCTS, Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid.
