KUCHING: New Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Jeniri Amir read more than 20 books on the Hajj pilgrimage to prepare for the Hajj in the Holy Land.
He revealed this when met by New Sarawak Tribune at the Sarawak Hajj pilgrimage send-off ceremony by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Raia Hotel on Wednesday night
Jeniri said the journey to perform the Hajj was a challenging journey in terms of the intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual and other aspects.
“Not only did I go for courses organised by the Tabung Haji Sarawak but I also read more than 20 books so that I have more knowledge and internal understanding so that every obligatory act of Hajj can be performed smoothly for a complete Hajj,” he said.
Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Director Division of Endowment and Waqf, Dayang Nor Hajijah Awang Daud said that although she had already performed the Hajj several times, she still felt overwhelmed and grateful.
“It is a different feeling when comes to performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the Holy Land.
“I hope for a safe journey during our departure and arrival at the Holy Land as well as returning back with all good things to my family in Kuching,” she added.
Maji Julai, a retired headmaster, said that he was thankful to be given the chance this year to perform the Hajj together with his wife and mother-in-law.
“After waiting for 10 years and a few appeals, Alhamdullilah, finally we have the chance and I hope we can use this opportunity to pray and perform the obligatory acts in the Holy Land.
“For those who still not have the chance yet, I hope they keep on appealing as the times will come for them, too,” he said
