KUCHING: It has been a particularly challenging year for all educators nationwide following the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the movement control order (MCO).
However, Sarawak Teachers’ Union president Macky Joseph opined that this is not a reason to forget the all-important Teacher’s Day celebration for all educators in the country.
He said in conjunction with this year’s Teacher’s Day celebration theme of ‘Berguru Demi Ilmu, Bina Generasi Baru’, it was clear those teachers were a key element of a nation’s success.
“Teachers play an important role in promoting knowledge and building a new generation in line with the national education philosophy,” he said in a statement issued on yesterday.
He said the contributions and sacrifices of teachers would always be at the heart of all layers of society.
“Teachers, through a variety of platforms, presented their students with distance teaching and learning as part of the new norm.
“The success that we have today will surely encompass the services and sacrifices made by our previous teachers,” he commended.
Macky said STU was also proud of the enthusiasm shown by all educators, especially teachers who have never been tired of carrying out their work wherever they are.
“I humbly wish to thank all the educators, especially the beloved STU members. Make sure you adhere to the SOPs set for the sake of safety and well-being of everyone. And best of luck in carrying out all duties throughout this new norm,” he added.
