KUCHING: A sum of RM75,000 has been raised through KKB Engineering Berhad’s (KKBEB) Charity Fun Run.
With that, the donations have been channelled to 10 charity bodies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) accordingly.
Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian was present to officiate at the Charity Fun Run as well as handed over the donations to the recipients at KKBEB headquarters, Jalan Kilang here today.
The charitable bodies and NGOs are namely, The Salvation Army, Mile 7 Sacred Heart Church, Kuching Autistic Association, Kuching Parkinson’s Society, 2 Tree Lodge, Surau Darul Hidayatul Salihin, Kuching Buddhist Society, Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak, Kampung Atas Singai Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and Journalists Association of Kuching Division.
In his speech, Dr Sim commended the KKBEB and its staff for raising donations to help the charitable bodies and NGOs.
“This is what we call inclusive, that is to share and to give back to society. Hence, we also need to teach the younger generation to practice these good values of giving back to society,” he said.
He also said by donating to the needy, one is doing something meaningful in their life.
“Leave a legacy of doing something meaningful so that you could inspire others to do the same and to contribute even more.
“Therefore, no matter how big or small the amount you donate, it must be sincere from the heart,” said Dr Sim.
Meanwhile, KKBEB Group executive director Kho Pok Tong said that since last month, the company kicked off the anniversary’s celebration with a series of activities including the Charity Fun Run.
“For the Charity Fun Run, the idea came from the staff and they have researched and proposed which respective charitable bodies and NGOs to receive the donation.
“Whatever the staff had collected for the run, KKB matches the collected sum a Ringgit for Ringgit.
“The staff had collected RM37,500 and KKB equalled the amount to RM75,000,” he said.
He then said the company will continue with its anniversary celebration with the next charity sales in collaboration with PERKATA on Sept 4 as well as the final tele-match to be held on Sept 10.
“The anniversary celebration will culminate with a grand gala dinner which is scheduled to take place on Sept 23.
“To celebrate our 60th anniversary milestone, our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has agreed to grace the dinner as our special guest of honour,” said Kho.
Also present were KKBEB executive director Kho Poh Lin, KKBEB business service and human resource general manager Kho Poh Joo, and KKBEB director Yong Voon Kar.
