Charity Run raises RM130,300 for St Teresa

KUCHING: The Let’s Rebuild St Teresa Charity Run raised a total sum of RM130,300 for the school.

Of the sum raised, RM70,300 was collected from the run, including contributions from the Minister of Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian (RM10,000), KENBEST (RM10,000) and City Jogger’s Club (RM3,000).

A sum of RM60,000 was a matching grant from the Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg if the school was able to raise RM60,000 or more from the run.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,123 people took part in the run yesterday.

Present to flag off the run was Batu Kitang State Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang who represented Dr Sim.

As of 29 March, SMK St Teresa had collected RM2.07 million for the reconstruction of the school’s hall.

The school needs a total of RM8.2 million for the reconstruction of the hall which was gutted by a fire in October 2015.
