KUCHING: The new “Garden of Loving Kindness” charity zone at Bau Nirvana Memorial Park was officially launched yesterday.

The setting up of the zone with 1,332 urn compartments was initiated by Kuching Memorial Services Bhd to assist the needy and underprivileged groups.

Dr Yii opens one of the compartments while others look on.

The launching ceremony was officiated at by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii. Also present were Nirvana managing director, Anna Wong and Kuching Memorial Services Bhd executive director, Siaw Chow Jin.

According to Siaw, the needy or less fortunate can get a recommendation from charity agencies to obtain a compartment for free.

“It is also open to anyone with an offer price of RM4,988 which includes cremation services, urn for the ashes and compartment,” Siaw said.

Before the launch ceremony of the new zone, Buddhist devotees prayed and gave offerings to receive blessings. The ceremony was also enlivened with a lion dance performance.
