KUCHING: There was a chemical leak on the 6th floor of the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) at about 10.45am yesterday,  prompting firemen to rush to scene to do the cleaning up process.

It was believed that the chemical, formalin, had been spilled on the floor of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The firemen helped to evacuate the patients from the ICU before undertaking the cleaning up process, which took three hours.

The firemen wore protected gear and cordoned off the area at the back of the hospital to prevent people from getting close during the cleaning up process.
