SIMANGGANG: To avoid confusion between Malaysia Day, National Day, and Sarawak Day, children should be educated on the essential stories of Malaysia’s formation.

The parade or procession, according to SJKC School Management Board Chairman Chung Hua Simanggang Temenggung Kueh Aik Seng, is one of the most important occasions for educating primary school students about Malaysia Day.

“Children must be taught the history of Malaysia’s formation on September 16, 1963, involving the Federation of Malaya, Sarawak, Sabah, and Singapore (out in 1965).

“This is to ensure that students are not confused with the meaning of other major events like National Day on August 31 and Sarawak Day on July 22,” he said yesterday at a school assembly event in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2022.

He explained that a comprehensive grasp of the country’s and state’s significant day will instil a sense of patriotism in them.

As early as 8am, 912 SJKC Chung Hua Simanggang students marched throughout the school and town area, waving the Jalur Gemilang and the state flag.
