MIRI: A 68 year-old granny from Lorong 1B Taman Delight had a hair-raising moment this morning (Jan 17), when she discovered a one metre-long cobra was hiding at the back of her sofa in the living room.
Prior to the incident, the home owner was just about to sit at the sofa after taking a shower when she spotted the venomous reptile.
She immediately called rescuers to catch the snake.
According to Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer in-charge Lt Mirwan Shah Masri, they received an emergency alert on the discovery at 10.48 am.
“When our officers arrived at the scene, the snake was still hiding at the back of the sofa, and we used our special tool to catch it,” he said.
The operation went smoothly and ended within 16 minutes.
