KUCHING: Xing Weiping, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, is looking forward to working with the Sarawak government and communities in the state.
“At present, China is implementing its 14th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development. Malaysia is entering its 12th Malaysia Plan period, while Sarawak has set a goal of becoming a high-income and developed state by 2030.
“I look forward to strengthening exchanges, deepening mutual trust and making great efforts to pave the way for more interactions, build stronger bridges of cooperation, lay a more solid foundation of friendship between our people, and continue to promote China-Malaysia friendship and cooperation between China and Sarawak to a new level,” he said, upon his arrival here today.
Xing added that the China-Malaysia friendship continued to flourish and under the guidance of their two leaders, the China-Malaysia strategic partnership had contributed positively to their citizens, and promoted regional peace and stability.
“Especially in facing the impact of Covid-19, the peoples of Sarawak and China have stood together with mutual assistance amid difficulties, wroting a splendid chapter in building a global community of health for all.”
He said he was privileged to become the 10th Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching.
“Sarawak is blessed with rich natural resources, good governance and social stability with different ethnic groups coexisting in harmony and diverse cultures blending together.
“It is such a pleasure to come to Kuching to take up my new post here. I wish to salute and thank all those who have been committed to promoting friendship and cooperation between China and Sarawak, Malaysia.”
Xing also wished Sarawakians, “Selamat Hari Gawai, Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai!”
