KUCHING: A political secretary to the Chief Minister, Tan Kai has asked Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Chong Chieng Jen to disclose the expenditure for the Buy Malaysia Product Campaign 2019 held in MJC, Batu Kawa.
Tan Kai said the ministry should disclose the source of funding, major expenses and the name of the contractor who organised the event.
“As a transparent government, as claimed, the deputy minister from DAP should disclose the expenditure account, just like what they did for the previous BN government,” he said.
Tan asked whether the cost of organising the event, the tent and source of the fund came from the ministry or from public donations.
He also asked whether the awarding of the contractor was done through open tender.
“According to the press statement issued, the ministry was undergoing a ‘I-KeeP’ (Consumer Economic Shop Initiative) programme but only one supermarket, Everwin, participated.
“The ministry must also disclose details of the programme so that more companies can participate in such programme,” added Tan.
