KUCHING: Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman has called out Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s bluff.
He said the latter knew that projects in Sarawak were cancelled by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and has admitted it numerous times before.
“Chong is either very forgetful or pretends to forget that Pakatan Harapan did cancel projects in Sarawak shortly after taking power.
“The fact of the matter is that the projects were cancelled in Sarawak and a number of it was continued by the state government,” he said in a statement today.
Fazzrrudin who is Tupong assemblyman said Chong himself in 2018 had labelled the sorely needed infrastructure projects in as ‘hot-air projects’
“This was after he failed to fulfil his own promise of getting these projects continued, saying that he will bring it up personally to his party boss, then DAP secretary-general and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng to get these projects continued”.
He said the people can only speculate that Chong’s demands were shot down by his political masters, thus he had to toe the party line and follow orders.
“In 2019, not only did he once again admit that these projects were cancelled but he insulted the people of Sarawak, telling them to not be a ‘crybaby’ over these cancelled projects.
“His excuse then was that the cut in the budget for several projects is a necessary action to save the country from bankruptcy”.
Fazzrudin asked Chong whether he admits that these projects were cancelled.
“Was it not him who told the people of Sarawak to not be a ‘crybaby’ over the cancelled projects?
“The Sarawak DAP chairman might be suffering from partial amnesia and unable to differentiate between fact and fiction”.
He said it is disappointing and saddening to see that the DAP and the Pakatan Harapan are resorting to denial and washing their hands of their sins to the people of Sarawak when comes to fishing for their votes in the 15th General Election.
“As far as the people of Sarawak are concerned, we do not forgive nor forget DAP and Pakatan Harapan over their harsh treatment to Sarawak, despite their denial,” he said.
