KUCHING: PRS Women chief, Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie who is also the political secretary to the CM said Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen may have short memories while fellow Sarawakians have not.
She pointed out that PH’s promises as per their Manifesto last GE14, was to give 20 per cent O &G royalty to Swak if PH wins. Now that PH has won and knowing very well that PH can’t deliver on that promise because it contravenes PDA74, you and your PH government are now trying to fool your fellow Sarawakians yet another time with a new deal namely 15 per cent profit to Sarawak gov’t on top of the five per cent royalty.
“Why flip flopping on the Petronas O&G royalty issue? Where is your conscience as a Sarawakian? Your act is akin to belittling your own son of the soil. If you all (PH) cannot fulfil your promise and have
made a mistake, please just admit it. We are Sarawakians and for goodness sake please stop politicising and compromising on Sarawakians’ rights on this O&G issues. We have been abused for approximately 44 years and now that we have awakened, let’s not jeopardise our hopes with selfish politics.
“Our Sarawak government is now seeking Federal Government to honour our Malaysia Agreement 1963 and Oil Mining Ordinance 58 as O&G rightly belong to us thus it is not for Federal Government nor Chong as Sarawak PH leader representing his political masters to dictate to Sarawak,” said Doris.
She lamented that in case Chong may have forgotten that he is a Sarawakian, she wanted to take this opportunity to remind him to keep his feet grounded on Sarawak soil (as a Sarawakian) and fight together
with your fellow Sarawakians to re-claim our rights on this issue. GPS as the State Government under Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership will pursue on re-claiming Sarawak’s Autonomy; Sarawakians must rise above politics to fight for our rights.
Doris wondered if Chong as a Deputy Minister For Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, had better focus on his tasks and responsibilities with regards. He must live up to their PH Manifesto. We have been hopeful for ‘harga barang’ to come down since PH have reintroduced SST but seems that it is a far cry.
“Your current position and your political master may restrain you to ‘fight’ for Sarawak’s rights but as a Sarawakian the least you could do is not to allow yourself to be used by them as their spokesperson or
negotiator at the expense of your fellow Sarawakians,” she added.
