KUCHING: Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen said he was all along right about the just-dissolved Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
He said his prediction about the establishment of PSB as a party for just one election was accurate, even though it was formed as an opposition party at the time.
My prediction has come true, he said, referring to the decision of the PSB to merge with the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
“Since its inception, I remember commenting that this local opposition party lacks the stamina and confidence to sustain its political struggle in the long run.
“Of course, at that time, I used the term ‘party for a single election,’ and my prediction has become a reality, that’s the situation,” he said.
He said this after presenting the Higher Education Aid Fund to students in the Stampin area at the DAP Sarawak headquarters here on Sunday (Apr 7).
At the same time, the Stampin MP congratulated PDP for becoming stronger through the merger with PSB.
At a dinner to welcome former leaders and members of PSB into the party in Sibu on Saturday, PDP announced the appointment of former PSB president, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, as senior vice president of PDP.
Meanwhile, former PSB deputy president, Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, and former PSB secretary-general, Baru Bian, were appointed as vice presidents of PDP.
