KUCHING: It appears that Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Chong Chieng Jen is oblivious to the Malaysia Day celebration in Kuching this year.
“There’s no need for Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak to ‘suggest’ for the Malaysia Day to be celebrated in Kuching on Sept 16 because the federal and state governments have already agreed on the matter,” said Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah yesterday.
Karim, who is Asajaya assemblyman, elaborated that the matter had already been discussed in the Sarawak Cabinet meeting at the end of the Ramadan month.
“It seems that Chong does not know what has transpired from the meeting between the federal and the state governments.
“At the same time, he is trying to show off to the people of Sarawak that it is his and PH Sarawak’s idea in proposing Kuching as the venue for the celebration,” he stated.
