KUCHING: A grateful Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen has pledged to look into enhancing the firefighting prowess of the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

He said he would be following up on this matter with the department whose personnel fought tooth and nail for about two hours to put out a fire at Mile 7 on Tuesday (Jan 10).

Chong said he will see what can be improved such as in terms of additional equipment for fire fighting in order to reduce losses in case of such unfortunate events in the future.

Chong, speaking to representative of Bomba.

“We would like to thank Bomba for their hard work and effort in putting out the fire as it took them a total of two hours to do so,” he said in a statement.

“Despite the tireless effort by Bomba, a total of six shophouses were damaged by the fire with some eyewitnesses claiming initially the water pressure was low but it was soon rectified by Bomba as well.”
