KUCHING: DAP’s Stampin candidate Chong Chieng Jen has challenged SUPP candidates in Stampin and Bandar Kuching to state who they prefer as Prime Minister.
He said he was throwing the challenge due to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) rejecting Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) choice of Prime Minister – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“For them to reject the possibility and choice, it has given them only four candidates – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, or Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang – to choose from, looking at the present political scenario in Malaysia.
“For that, among the four, I call on Stampin GPS candidate Lo Khere Chiang and Bandar Kuching GPS candidate Eric Tay Tze Kok to name their choice of Prime Minister,” he said during a joint press conference here on Today (Nov 6).
He pointed out that in all parliamentary elections, the most important element for any coalition party to go into election is knowing and telling the people who is their Prime Minister of choice.
“Hence, I challenge the candidates to tell the people in Sarawak who is your choice of Prime Minister.
“Your choice is of the utmost importance for the people’s consideration at the time of voting,” he stressed.
