BAU: The three-day Community Health Outreach Team (CHOT) Programme held in conjunction with the Pacific Partnership Exercise 2017 (PP17) is aimed at helping to foster the relationship between military personnel and members of the public.
Serembu State Assemblyman Miro Simuh said the programme was the first to be jointly organised by the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) with the military forces of the United States, South Korea, Japan and Australia by providing the health and dental services to the rural communities.
“It is a good programme, especially to establish and strengthen the relationship between military personnel and civilians, and at the same time, providing the rural communities with health screening and dental services,” said Miro when officiating at the outreach programme held at the Bau Civic Centre, yesterday.
He said programme also showed the good collaboration in exchange of knowledge and experience between ATM and the paticipants of the PP17 Exercise.
Miro hoped that such programme should be continued in the future as it could bring benefits to villagers in the rural areas.
Among the services provided in the programme are health screening and examination and dental treatment and services.
Free glasses are also given to those who have their eyes checked for free during the programme.
Besides health services, an exhibition on military equipment is also held by the 11th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, and recruitment exercise for youths interested to join the military.
Other government agencies participating in the programme which ends today are the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, State Agriculture Department and State Health Department.
Also present were Eastern Region Field Commander Lt-Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar.
