KUCHING: This year’s Christmas celebration is celebrated modestly due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and recovery movement control order (RMCO).
For Ganit Gunarso Serung, 26, the Yuletide atmosphere this time was different, including the celebration at the church.
“The Christmas prayer ceremony this morning was also conducted under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“The SOPs include time limits at church and social distancing,” she said, sharing her experience today.
For her, this year’s Christmas is celebrated on a smaller scale – more as a gathering for the family members rather than the grandiose celebration and open houses of yesteryear.
“This is because there are no open houses involving the public and carolling activities from house to house are not allowed.
“Besides that, visiting activities are also not encouraged at this time,” she said.
Although the celebration this time was moderate, it was not a damper for her family.
“We remain happy with this year’s Christmas celebration and we hope that all parties, especially the Christian community, abide by the SOPs that have been set,” she said.
