Church groups get RM90,000 in MRP grants

SIMANGGANG: Various religious establishments here have received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants totalling RM90,000, to support their activities.

The grants were handed over by its assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also Deputy Minister Education, Innovation and Talent Development.

Among the beneficiaries of the grants were the Parochial Church Committee (PCC) of St. Luke’s Church, Sri Aman, which received RM50,000, and the management of St Lawrence Church, Sabu, Sri Aman, which received RM40,000.

The allocation to St. Lawrence Church, Sabu, was divided as follows: RM20,000 to the PCC; RM10,000 to the St Lawrence Sabu Cemetery Committee; RM5,000 to the St Lawrence Sabu Women’s Fellowship Committee; and RM5,000 to the Youth Fellowship.

Harden explained that these allocations serve as financial assistance to support church activities aimed at strengthening the spirituality of Christians under the auspices of these churches.

He assured that the government will continue to support organisations in channeling allocations as long as the organisations align with government policies.

He also emphasised the importance of these organisations taking responsibility and cooperating to ensure smooth development and to foster a harmonious Christian community.
